বাঘারপাড়া উপজেলা সদরের চৌরাস্তা থেকে নারিকেলবাড়িয়া যাওয়ার পথে চিত্রানদীর ওপর যে সেতু নির্মিত হয়েছে তার পাশে ছিল খেয়াঘাট। এই খেয়াঘাটের দুই পাশে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় অসংখ্য মানুষকে হত্যা করে তাদের লাশ নদীর পানিতে ভাসিয়ে দিয়েছে রাজাকার জল্লাদরা। স্থানীয় একাধিক মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ও প্রবীণ ব্যক্তিরা জানান, এখানে শতশত মানুষকে হত্যা করেছে রাজাকাররা। ঐ খেয়াঘাটের (বর্তমানে সেতু) পাশে উপজেলা ‘স্বাধীনতা চত্বর : মুক্তিযুদ্ধের স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ’ নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে।

There was a ferry was next to the bridge built on Chitra River in Bagharpara Upazilla. Local freedom fighters and elderly people said that the Razakars had killed numerous people on the two sides of the ferry and dumped their bodies in the river. Beside the ferry (presently a bridge), ‘Independence Square: Memorial of the War of Liberation' has been established.
