পাবনা শহরের নিকটবর্তী শিঙা বাজারের পালপাড়ায় ১৯৭১ সালের ৮ মে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনি ব্যপক অত্যাচার ও নির্যাতন চালায়। এদিন পাকিস্তানি সৈন্য সমস্ত পালপাড়া জ্বালিয়ে দেয়। পালপাড়ায় এদিনের হামলায় প্রায় ২৫-৩০ জন মানুষ নিহত হয় এবং ৪০-৪৫ টা বাড়ি আগুনে পুড়ে যায়। সেই সাথে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী পালপাড়ার মেয়েদের উপরও চালায় অকথ্য নির্যাতন।

The Pakistani army perpetrated a series of torture on May 8 in 1971, at Palpapara in Shinga Bazar, near Pabna. On that day, they burned down the whole Palpara. About 25-30 people were killed and 40-45 houses were burnt on down that day. At the same time, the Pakistani Army also tortured and abused girls and women of the area.
